Born on November 19, 1992, Stefanie Chrisanne Kanack was a true child of the country, with a deep love for the outdoors. She got her love for animals from her mom and her passion for nature from her dad.
Stef was always happier outside than in. You’d find her in the woods, on the lake, on the back of a Harley, or on a horse. She would say her favorite time of day was right before dawn, “before the world woke up,” when she could watch the sunrise and hear the first birds sing. She looked forward to deer season all year, finding just as much joy in helping her dad prepare as she did in the hunt itself. She hunted deer, bear, and even antelope out west, with mounts to show for her success. She also loved to fish whenever she got the chance.
Stefanie was a talented artist and writer, using drawing and painting to unwind and recharge. She was just beginning to explore her gift for writing. Stefanie lived by what she was taught: compassion, perseverance, and gratitude for what you have.
Her blunt honesty was what people loved about her and why they came to her for advice. With a great sense of humor and a deep well of compassion, she would help anyone. Tragically, she seldom reached out for help herself, always putting on a strong front. What those who loved her didn’t know was that she was suffering in silence. That strong, generous, life-of-the-party person we all knew was hiding something we wish every day she would have shared.
Now, in our grief, all we can do is continue what was important to her. We will try to give others hope when they can’t see it, faith when they can’t feel it, and love when they need it most. Stefanie, with all our heart and soul, we love you and miss you immeasurably every day.
